CTE-K: This class is specifically designed for entry level Chinese students under 6 years old. Students will learn over 150 words covering 22 topics from a child's world, like family, friends, food, animals, home, school and more.  

CTE-1:  This course is designed for entry level Chinese students. Students will learn 80 commonly used words and related grammar patterns. They will be able to understand and use some of the most common Chinese phrases and sentences, possessing the ability to further their Chinese language studies. Prerequisite: none

CTE-2:  Students will learn 150 commonly used words and related grammar patterns. They will be able to understand and use some simple Chinese phrases and sentences as well as engage in basic communications.  *Prerequisite: CTE-1

CTE-3:  Students will learn 450 common words and related grammar patterns. Students have reached a beginning- to intermediate-level of Chinese. They will be able to produce simple and direct communications on familiar daily topics in a simple manner. *Prerequisite: CTE-2

CTE-4:  Students will learn 600 and above common words as well as related grammar patterns. Students have reached an intermediate level of fluency. When traveling in China, they can manage most forms of communication in Chinese.  *Prerequisite: CTE-3

CTE-5: Students will learn 600 common words and related grammar patterns. Students are able to carry out basic communication tasks about life, study, and work, reaching an excellent level in basic Chinese.  *Prerequisite: CTE-4

CTE-6: Students will learn 600 and above common words as well as related grammar patterns. Students have reached an intermediate level of fluency. When traveling in China, they can manage most forms of communication in Chinese.  *Prerequisite: CTE-5

CTE-Adult: This course is designed for entry level adult students.  Students will learn 150 new words, related grammar, as well as the Pinyin pronunciation system which will enable students to meet basic communication needs and gain the ability to further their Chinese language studies.
